Wanted: Intern / Junior Researcher
Hi there
I’m a London-based journalist, author and designer. I’m into infographical, visual approaches to ideas, subjects, issues.
I run the website http://www.informationisbeautiful.net. I’ve just got a book out called The Visual Miscellaneum. Woo-hoo!
I’ve got a bunch of new book, print and web projects on the go.
So I’m looking for an intern / junior researcher to join a small creative team.
It should be excellent experience for anyone already interested in writing, journalism, design and web - and the heady, colourful realm where they all meet. I think it would suit a gap yearer or a graduate wanting to break into media.
I’m looking for someone who has the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks. Someone who rejoices in finding unexpected, hackerly routes to far-flung information and hard-to-reach facts. Someone who feels physical discomfort upon seeing an incomplete spreadsheet.
Curiosity about all kinds of subjects, excellent attention to detail and creative thinking are a must. You must be able to work quickly, organically, and collaboratively. Computer skills and internet nous are essential.
It’ll also help if you have a laptop - but I can provide.
In return, I’ll train you to research professionally and enhance your existing skills. Plus I’ll support and feedback on any writing projects and ideas you might have.
Initially, it would be a paid (stipend) two week post based in South London, part in-house, part work from home. Travel expenses and lunch included.
It may also lead to regular paid work.
If that interests you, please email the following to informationisbeautiful [at] gmail [dot] com with the subject line: ‘RESEARCH IS BEAUTIFUL’
: CV
: a short splurge about yourself with relevant experience or interests.
Thank you!
